Thank you again to everyone for their overwhelmingly positive feedback about Fashion Feed of SL

I just wanted to say that I am still adding! I promise! If you would like to be reviewed for addition, I encourage you to read the About Page and then use the Contact Form to make the request. I have been able to review requests and add them within a few hours of when i receive the email/IM/comment. (speaking of which it’s been tricky hunting down all the requests when I have so many places to check…*psst…points to the hint above to use the Contact Form *)

Also, Jonathan Hugo of FUSE has been so encouraging since I went public with the feed, and insisted on making In World Vendors to distribute a link to the Fashion Feed of SL site. The vendors are simple frames of this texture:

You can find them free here at OnRez in three sizes, ya know….just in case you’d like to show your support and mayhaps display one….(*puppy dog eyes*)

Fashion Photo Shoot

I did a fashion photo shoot with Minnu Palen yesterday, and I am just stunned at how SL photography can be really pushed to it’s limits. I have never claimed to be a photographer. I mostly just do composites for blog posts. But goodness! I wish there was more photography like this in SL.

Do you ever get one of those hairbrained ideas? You know “hairbrained”…on of those snippets of thought that wiggle into your brain like an itty bitty hair, like a sliver you just can’t pull loose? A couple of months ago that happened to me. I can’t pinpoint exactly when or how it was prompted, but I thought “I wish there was another Fashion Feed”.

When I told my friends I wanted to see if I could work out how to create another feed, one moderated and content controlled, they said I was nuts…
“Great idea…but it takes too much bandwidth. Fashion Planet is on the owner’s webserver. Too expensive…”

As much as I love Fashion Planet (*hi my name is Cari, and I’m a Fashion Planet addict, I last refreshed the page 31 times in one day*) I realized that I was scrolling….scrolling…to find a post that caught my eye…piqued my interest….really made me want to SHOP.

So I did a bit of research. How much bandwidth really? Was there a solution I could wrap my semi tech savvy brain around? I posted an experiment with this blog post…asking readers to click a link to a Mac blog feed on my host’s server. (P.S. Thank you so much to everyone who humored me and clicked) There was alot of traffic generated but I was still given the *thumbs up* from my host.

Sooooo…..Fashion Feed of SL was born. I started adding my favorite Second Life fashion blogs to it. For a while, I was very guarded to talk about the project, but now that Madi outed me on the Rummage Box, I’ve received so much positive feedback that I’m a bit overwhelmed.

Because I wasn’t really prepared for anyone to actually take the time to be interested in my lil’ pet project, I really had not spelled out the purpose of my feed to anyone. I will be adding this detail to my About page…

Simplicity

Some days I just don’t feel like fighting my inventory…juggling layers, comparing fabric textures, reconfiguring prim attach points, finding a belt…

Today’s outfit is the ivory wrap dress from Total Betty. Simple and fresh and pretty. Paired with the fantastic stacked heels from Shiny Things.

Cashmere

I saw a post on the Fashion Planet feed from Cashmere and stopped by the shop to satisfy my curiosity. Lots of cute hand drawn ensembles all lined up like soldiers along the walls. I have to admit, it felt kind of great to exercise my Buy trigger finger. *cocks her hand like a gun and blows off the shopping smoke*

I was trying to come up with a word that was a good mix of cute and sexy all packaged up with a bow. Sassy? works for me.

(note: top is only a single jacket layer and sheer, but you could layer a shirt underneath for more coverage)

Sexy metallic vest and super daring shredded skirt (so daring that I’m putting the back view after the cut)

Love the use of colors in this funky skirt and blouse set complete with great opaque lycra tights
